MM/TL CIT Training Expeditions

With years of experience as campers, our CIT’s come knowing camp inside and out, so we have designed a training experience that aids in the transition from being a camper to becoming a staff member. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to exit ones comfort zone and go on a back-country expedition. We will explore leadership styles, judgement and decision making, and learn about servant leadership. We travel to the North Carolina High Country for a wilderness Expedition. Each expedition will be instructed our professional expedition staff.
CIT’s are program participants training for future counselor spots. There is no tuition to be a CIT, though each CIT is required to participate in the CIT training. This is a wilderness expedition in North Carolina’s High Country. They are scheduled immediately prior to your CIT program. Split session CIT’s (1B/2F or 2F/3A) will be invited to join for just one session.

North Carolina High Country (NCHC)
We will venture into the heart of Pisgah National Forest. While on the expedition CIT’s will be be cooking their own meals, setting up their own shelters and learning to navigate by map and compass. Each day there will be a Leader of the Day, making crux decisions and caring for the needs of the group, and getting feedback from their group members and instructors. While on the expedition, CIT’s will go rock climbing and white water rafting in some of WNC’s premier adventure locations!
