Rock Climbing, Looking Glass Rock
North Carolina is known for some of the best climbing in the southeast. Of the many notable climbing areas such as Linville Gorge or Stone Mountain, Perhaps the most recognized is Looking Glass. "The Glass" is known as a huge granite dome covered with horizontal eye-brow shaped cracks throughout it's face. During this portion of the trip we will focus on rock climbing fundamentals such as belaying, climbing knots, top rop climbing, and movement on the rock. Those who are ready will attempt a multi-pitch climb to the summit. This will be ideal for both the seasoned climber that is hoping to expand knowledge, skill and experience and for the novice putting on a harness and touching the rock for the first time.
