NC High Country Leadership

We are backpacking on the Black Mountain Crest Trail, which is regarded as one of the most challenging trails in the U.S. and certainly in the south. Along this trail are chances to climb many of the highest peaks in the east including Mt. Mitchell at 6,684 feet which is the highest peak east of of the Mississippi river. We will explore the best of the North Carolina High Country with the Jaw dropping vistas and quad burning climbs. Over the course of this section you will grow strong as you learn the essential skills to thrive in the wilderness such as traveling with map and compass, route finding, back-country cooking, packing a backpack, hanging a bear bag, and setting up a shelter to sleep in.

Leadership Training

During this course each individual will have opportunities to lead the and receive constructive feedback about the leadership styles. There is a strong focus on judgment and decision-making which makes this an excellent program for anyone looking for opportunities to grow in leadership skills. While on the course each student will have the opportunity to receive a certificate as a Leave No Trace Trainer through the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. We have learned that adventure programing requires staff that are both exceptional people and remarkably trained. One without the other is not enough. This program is designed to offer the training portion of that equation.
